It's not been a good week for me and technology

I’ve not been having much luck with technology lately.
My trusty old Sony Vaio has become extremely slow and crashes very frequently – even after two complete reinstalls! I can’t get hold of a stable video device driver and as my iPhone is no laptop replacement, I NEED a new laptop…
At the same time, my fall back laptop (my daughters MacBook) has decided that as it’s now month 13 it’s time to break! It fails to complete the start-up process 95% of the time. Luckily I took out the extended cover and is in the hands of the Apple Genius Bar in Cambridge…
All of this has meant no easy blogging, etc :-( so against the advise of my Mac Guru (Guy Dickinson) – (He suggested I wait a couple of weeks to see if Apple announce a new version of the Macbook Pro) I rang Apple, confirmed they could deliver in five days, and placed my order.
Imagine my disappointment/frustration/anger when their website is now quoting a delivery date of July 12th!!! 14 days from the date of order!
Time to become an unreasonable customer…

Comments
Being unreasonable provided some satisfaction, but no resolution! Apple, say they can not do anything about the delivery time so I have cancelled the order!
The good news is the Macbook is ready for collection - I can now take Guy's advice and wait to see what Steve J announces next week...
Disappointing not to have my new toy (errr 'business effectiveness/efficiency tool'), but I guess in the long run, it will be for the best...

It always happens, place an order and they being out a new model/version/upgrade.
I thought Apple released the new Mac Book Pro at the end of February? :~o) At the time I was thinking to get one. I waited till it was released. Due to the credit crunch ;o) I thought better of spending £1300 on a laptop and went for a Dell XPS M1530, in red. A much higher spec model than the Apple and a third the price. It looks sexy too. Very happy!

For your own good I did wonder whether or not I should approve your comment Richard. But as I did, I ought to respond...
Not sure where ‘the much higher spec’ comes from... I just looked a couple of web sites, and did not see a configuration with a spec higher than my 2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4G RAM, 7200 rpm HD, 800Mhz Bus, etc.
I guess I looked at old sites :-O
You do win on cost and but your attempt at hyping up a recession was poor compared to the ‘BBC (no) News’ teams!
But none of that matters. What does worry me more is that you think a laptop could ‘look sexy’. This area is personally outside of my comfort zone, however, I am sure there are more appropriate blogs and communities where you could discuss with like-minded people. Suggest you try a search on Google for 'Sexy Laptop Forum' :-)
