An argument for more Government legislation!

Have you noticed how little attention has been paid to the need to improve the awareness, understanding and actions of the Business when it comes to making informed decisions?
These days there are books, papers, tools, training, blogs, webinars and consultants ‘a plenty’ on the technologies, tools and methods for data management, data capture, data cleanse, BI, DWH, etc. All aimed at making improvements and reducing costs in the delivery of information...
However, despite the growing number of MBA’s out there, we don’t seem to be getting a corresponding growth in the number of business leaders who complain about the lack of trusted information available to them and their teams, to analyse facts, make decisions, and monitor the effect of those decisions. Why is this?
Perhaps it’ just a lack of government regulation?
Seriously, the biggest advances in recent years in breaking down organisational, process, technology and information silos, has been brought about by the enforced need of companies to comply with government legislation - not out of the need to deliver great 'business visions' for making more money, faster and cheaper (through having better transparency of their business operations, learning and making better business decisions through trusted information!)....
